The story in Kurulus Orhan Episode 23 picks up right in the middle of the heavy grief following Boran Bey’s martyrdom. Seeing Cerkutay so broken really pulled at my heartstrings. He’s trying to stay strong, but losing his “soul brother” has clearly left a massive void in the camp. Orhan, despite his own pain, has to step up as a leader and remind everyone that while they mourn, they cannot fall because their enemies are still watching.
The Aftermath and Cerkutay’s Vow in Kurulus Orhan Episode 23
The episode begins with a very somber atmosphere. Cerkutay is struggling to process the loss of Boran, and Orhan has to give a powerful speech to keep the morale of the Alps from crumbling. He basically tells them that while their hearts are burning, they have to hide their wounds like a wolf and wait for the right moment for revenge. The tension was high because the Kypchaks were nearby, and there was this constant feeling that a trap was being set. Demirhan Bey and Sahinsah are still lurking, trying to figure out their next move against the Ottomans. It’s clear that the death of Boran isn’t just a personal loss; it’s a strategic blow that the enemies are trying to capitalize on.

Asporca’s Bold Move and Orhan’s Pursuit
One of the biggest shocks this week was Asporca’s decision to flee the palace. She found out that her father, the Emperor, had been dethroned and sent to the Dormition Monastery. Driven by her love for her father, she slipped away without telling anyone, which caused a huge panic back at the palace. Malhun Hatun was furious, and Nilüfer was deeply upset, feeling that Asporca’s actions put the whole state in danger. Orhan, being the husband he is, couldn’t just let her go alone into enemy territory. He decided to head to the monastery himself to find her, even though it was incredibly risky. This whole situation showed the growing tension between personal loyalty and state duty. Kurulus Orhan Episode 23 really highlighted how Asporca still feels like a Byzantine Princess at heart, even though she is now part of Orhan’s household.
The Birth of Hızır and a Moment of Joy
Amidst all the fighting and political drama, we got a beautiful, much-needed scene. Gonca Hatun went into labor! It was a bit touch-and-go for a moment because she was very weak and exhausted, but eventually, a baby boy was born. Alaeddin was so overwhelmed with joy. They named the baby Hızır, hoping he would be a "helper" just like his namesake. It was such a bittersweet moment because Boran’s horse was led away at the same time, symbolizing one life leaving while another begins. The naming ceremony was really touching, and for a brief moment, the characters (and us viewers) got to breathe and feel some happiness. Kurulus Orhan Episode 23 did a great job balancing the heavy grief with this new life.
Confrontation at the Monastery
The action peaked when Orhan reached the monastery. He found Asporca, but the reunion wasn't all hugs and kisses. Orhan was rightfully angry that she risked everything, but he also saw the state of her father, the former Emperor. The man was a shell of his former self, broken and blinded. Meanwhile, the new Emperor, Andronikos, arrived at the monastery with his troops. Orhan and Asporca had to hide and use their wits to get out. There was a lot of sneaking around, and the tension of possibly being caught by the Byzantine guards kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s becoming clear that Andronikos is a much more ruthless enemy than his grandfather was, and he’s already making alliances with the Pope and the Templars to crush the Ottomans.
Must-Watch Moment
The most intense part of the episode has to be the final confrontation between Cerkutay and the man responsible for Boran’s death—Yigit. Cerkutay finally tracked him down, and the raw emotion in that scene was incredible. Yigit is such a twisted character; he literally told Cerkutay that he is already "dead" inside and doesn't fear anything. The fight was brutal, and you could feel Cerkutay’s desperation for justice. Just when you think it's over, the Byzantine reinforcements arrive, forcing Orhan and the group to retreat for the time being. The revenge is still pending, but the fire has been lit.
A New Alliance and the Road Ahead
The episode ends with some very interesting developments. Dursun Bey from the Karesi Beylik is making a move to align himself with Orhan. He realizes that his own father and brother are on the wrong path and wants to make Karesi and the Ottomans eternal allies. This is going to cause a massive rift in his own family, but he seems determined. Also, back at the camp, Orhan and Asporca finally had a heart-to-heart under the stars. Asporca apologized for her rash actions, and Orhan gave her a stern but loving talk about how they are now "one." The biggest reveal came at the very end when Asporca told Orhan that she is expecting a baby. It was a huge moment that changed the dynamic between them instantly.
